My Real-Life Workout Routine as a Working Mom

Let’s be real—fitting in a workout as a mom of three, working full-time, and going back to school isn’t easy. But for me, staying strong isn’t just about fitness. It’s about showing up for myself, protecting my long-term health, and setting the tone for my family.

Some mornings I can squeeze in a workout after school drop-off. Other days, I know I won’t get the chance unless I wake up at 5:30 AM. So I do. Not because I love waking up that early (I really don’t), but because I know how defeated I’ll feel later if I skip it.

I work out in my bedroom in a small space, but I make it work. I do 20 to 25 minutes of strength training—alternating full-body, arm, and leg days—and then follow it up with a 15-minute incline walk on my treadmill (12% incline at 3 mph) three days a week. On the other two weekdays, I focus on active recovery, like walking or yoga for at least 30 minutes.

Weekend workouts? Total bonus. Sometimes that looks like a hike with the kids, a bike ride, or just being out in nature together. We’re an active family, and that matters to me.

For me, it’s never been about changing my appearance—it’s about feeling energized, capable, and strong in the life I’m living now. I want to protect my bones, build muscle, and be healthy for my kids—not just today, but for years to come.

Some weeks aren’t perfect. I miss a workout or things get chaotic—but I always come back to it. Not because I have extra time, but because I’ve learned how much better I feel when I make it a priority. It’s not all-or-nothing—it’s about showing up consistently, even when life is full.
